Final camps of the summer

Pick your week — or come to them all

Every camp runs Monday to Friday at Over Community Centre, with an extended day (8:30am – 5:30pm) available. Each week has its own theme, with fresh drills, games and challenges — so returning cricketers get something new every time.

24 – 28 August Take the Wicket

A bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping week — including specialist keeping coaching that very few junior camps offer.

31 Aug – 4 September Tournament Week

A week-long competition to finish the summer — rotating teams, real match play, and everyone captains at least once.

Every week stands alone. The daily rhythm is the same every week — skills coaching in the morning, match play in the afternoon, small groups, all abilities. No week builds on the last, so you can join for any week, whether it's your first camp of the summer or your fifth. And summer isn't the end: an October half-term camp is in planning, and 1:1 coaching runs year-round.

Your coach

Meet your coach

I'm Ben Kavanagh — ECB Level 2 Coach, Leicestershire Girls County Pathway Coach, Middlesex Community Coach, and a Premier Division 1 cricketer.

I've played at county level with Warwickshire and Cambridgeshire, trained with the Warwickshire First XI, and received specialist coaching from Tymal Mills and Andre Nel. I bring that experience into every session I deliver.

Alongside coaching, I work as a Teaching Assistant at a Cambridgeshire SEND school. Every child I coach gets the same patience, attention, and individual care I bring to that role every day.

This summer I'm running themed weeks of specialist cricket coaching at Over Community Centre for boys and girls aged 8 to 14 — limited to 16 places per week. Fully coached, fully safeguarded, and a lot of fun.

Beyond camp

1:1 & small group coaching

Want to build on a camp week — or work on something specific? Ben coaches junior cricketers individually and in small groups of up to four, with every session built around the player in front of him. Sessions run at facilities in several of the villages north of Cambridge, or Ben can travel to a venue you arrange for a flat £15 per session.

Families book 1:1 coaching for all sorts of reasons — making the step up to hard ball, pushing for club selection, preparing for county age-group trials, fixing a technical habit that's crept in, or simply because their child loves cricket and wants more of it. Whatever the goal, the first session starts with where the player is now — and unlike camp weeks, every session builds on the last.

Session rates per hour, per player

"D has done two individual sessions with Ben and they have been really fantastic. He picked up very quickly on specific aspects of bowling and batting action that needed a bit of work, and focused the session on those. After each session there was a clear improvement, and we have come away knowing what to practise and how to do it. I would recommend without reservation!"

— 1:1 parent
A parent or guardian stays for every junior session — you're the second adult under the ECB's Rule of Two, and you'll see exactly what your child is working on. To book, message Ben on WhatsApp at 07494 864 816. Payment is taken at booking; with 48 hours' notice, cancelled sessions are held as credit towards your next one.

What families say

Straight from KP parents

"Ben is an absolutely fantastic cricket coach! Neither my son nor I come from a cricket background — I've never played cricket myself, and it's not something we regularly watch at home. But since joining Ben's sessions, my son has absolutely loved it and has developed such a genuine passion for the game. What really stands out is how much Ben goes above and beyond for the kids. He is patient, encouraging and brilliant at making the sessions fun while still helping the children develop their skills and confidence. He takes the time to understand each child and brings out the best in them."

— KP parent

"My son was nervous before attending — but when he left his first day he asked to be added on for the following day. The coaches were lovely, kind, approachable and knowledgeable. Our son definitely wants to return."

— Camp parent

"My 9-year-old son had a fantastic two days with KP Cricket summer camp! He had such fun, made some new friends and felt like he'd learned some really valuable new cricket skills. Coaches seemed really supportive and friendly and the admin was easy. He came home desperate for me to book more — so we'll definitely be back soon!"

— Camp parent

"I was super chuffed to see H gaining the confidence to pad up and face a hard ball for the first time, as he was pretty nervous. Thanks again!"
